Shutter island - Thriller- Media

Shutter island

Shutter island is classified as a thriller movie. A thriller movie contains a psychology core as the main centre point collaborated with the plot and story of the movie. Thrillers are often referred to as 'mind movies', as generally a good thriller will be able to take grasp of an entire audience and unconsiously compel the audience to feel tension, suspense and hunger to know more as the film progresses. Thriller films can often be mistaken for either action or horror films, however, thrillers are differiented from the other genres by the psychological factors of the movie supposedly mean't to be scary and realistic in some cases, without actually having all the elements and subgenres to make it classified as a horror. However, although thriller films contain little action, they can still be described as a stimulant for the audience as it enables them to engross themselves in the story, and engage in their feelings which is dependant on the amount of suspense and tension that the film manages to stir up. Finally, one key phrase that is exceedingly associated with the thriller genres is: 'edge of seat'. This is collaborated with the thriller genre due to the audience are conscious to the fact that they purposely want to witness an animate plot with a detonating climax that leaves them hungry for more. Thrillers are usually unpredictable from beginning to end, the audience are subsequently, unconsciously forced into a false sense of security whilst endangering the situation with an intense climax or perhaps in some cases, mystery. Shutter island is intense, gripping, dark, twisted and simply unforgettable.

Shutter island; for the criminally insane.

Do you know what fear does to the mind? Corrodes it.
U.S Marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to shutter island to investigate the mysterious disappearance of murderess, Rachel. She is thought of to be hiding near by.
Shutter island is a complex, twisted, dark and psychological thriller, purposely mean't to draw your conscious into the mystery of the purpose of the asylum and the missing murderess and send all your senses into chaos.
The plot is more twisted and dark then anticipated as the story progresses, as the film finishes with an explosive climax promising to shock the audience into oblivion. Its simply mind blowing and genuis. Director Martin Scorsese's finest work of his career is evident in shutter island.
Due to shutter island being a psychological thriller; it uses mind games and mystery throughout the progression of the film. The ending is simply unpredictable.
Set in 1954 in a mental asylum for the criminally insane, isolated and unknown to the rest of the world. Invisable.
The brave and heroic U.S Marshal; the apparent protagonist of the film is introduced to the audience as a justified, moralled, intelligent and sane man, assigned to fullfill order to the asylum by figuring out, finding and returning escapee murderess, Sarah. However, as the thrilling and suspense fuelled events unfold leading the audience to question their knowledge of their protagonist and his actions and intentions.
However, throughout the duration of the film we are also introduced to elements of his past by seeing realistic flashbacks of his wife and children. However, the audience are oblivious to the fact that they are his children, as the past that the audience are aware of... is infact a lie. An illusion created by the protagonist that he had convinced himself was true. Psychologically created in his mind to hide his dark and haunted past.
The film is fuelled by intensity and suspense firing at every sense in the audiences bodys, purposely making them experience a mixture of toxic nerves and emotions. The protagonist had geniusly devised a plan throughout the story, however his genuis was infact insanity. The film is classified as psychological thriller due to his constructive mastermind contrasted with his insanity due to the trama of his past.
