Shutter island spoiler review

The film opens in 1954; we are then introduced to the main character Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio). He was a World War II veteran and is currently federal marshal accompanied by his new partner, Chuck (Mark Ruffalo) . The two characters are introduced to the audience as they are traveling on a ferry to Shutter Island. Shutter island is unknown to the audience before the arrivals of the two characters. The audience are then made aware that it is in-fact a water-bound mental hospital housing and imprisoning the criminally insane. The film is set in 1954 in a mental asylum, isolated and unknown to the rest of the world. Invisible. The brave and heroic U.S Marshal; the apparent protagonist of the film is introduced to the audience as a justified, moralled, intelligent and sane man, assigned to fulfill order to the asylum by figuring out, finding and returning escapee murderess, Sarah to the grasp of Dr. Cawley and the rest of the corrupt employment team. However, as the thrilling and suspense fuelled events unfold leading the audience to question their knowledge of the U.S Marshal Teddy Daniels. The murderess; She is thought of to be hiding near by. They have been asked to investigate the disappearance of Rachel Solando (Emily Mortimer), a patient admitted to the asylum after she murdered her three children. As Teddy quizzes Dr. Cawley (Ben Kingsley), the head of the institution, he begins to suspect that the authorities in charge might not be giving him the whole truth, and that a terrible fate may befall all the patients in the mysterious and questionable Ward C -- a unit devoted to the most heinous of the hospital's inmates.The relentless enigma codes that continuously occur draw the audience in further. Complicating matters further, Teddy is seeking the arsonist who murdered his wife is incarcerated on Shutter Island. He is driven to confront his wife's killer. Adding to the reoccuring enigma codes, Teddy has a secret of his own -- he is infact a murderer whom had murdered his wife in coldbood after discovering she had infact murdered their two kids.. This is the explosive climax that answers all enigma codes revolving around the plot and narrative. Teddy is infact a patient inhabiting on shutter island due to his psychological state of mind due to the trauma of his past.He is incarcerated on Shutter Island. The narrative exaggerates how Teddy is driven to confront his wife's killer, as he is also stranded on the island because of a hurricane. Teddy must unravel the secrets of the eerie place before succumbing to his own madness.
Throughout the duration of the film we are also introduced to elements of his past by seeing realistic flashbacks of his wife and children. However, the audience are oblivious to the fact that they are his children, as the past that the audience are aware of... is infact a lie. An illusion created by the protagonist that he had convinced himself was true. Psychologically created in his mind to hide his dark and haunted past.
Shutter island is a complex, twisted, dark and psychological thriller, purposely mean't to draw your conscious into the mystery of the purpose of the asylum and the missing murderess and send all your senses into chaos.
The film is fuelled by intensity and suspense, purposely making the audience experience a mixture of toxic nerves and emotions. The protagonist had geniusly devised a plan throughout the story, however his genuis was infact insanity. The film is classified as psychological thriller due to his constructive mastermind contrasted with his insanity due to the trama of his past.
